• NEW — 2014-15 Ontario Women's Health Scholars Awards: Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, a Scholar Awards Program in Women's Health has been established to ensure that Ontario attracts and retains pre-eminent women's health scholars. The community of women's health scholars fostered by this Awards program will excel, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the
creation of new knowledge about women's health and its translation into improved health for women, more effective health services and products for women, and a strengthened heath care system. For 2014-15, up to three awards will be made at each of the Master's and Doctoral levels, and two awards at the Postdoctoral level: Master's Awards $18,000 plus $1,000 research allowance Doctoral Awards $20,0000 plus $2,000 research allowance Postdoctoral Award $40,000 plus $5,000 research allowance Deadline: Please submit your application directly to the Faculty of Graduate Studies by November 29, 2013. The community of autism scholars fostered by this Awards Program will excel, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the creation of
new knowledge concerning child autism, and its translation into improved health for children, more effective services and products for children with autism, and increase the province's capacity in diagnosis and assessment of autism and a strengthened treatment system. • Parkinson Society Canada offers grants,fellowships, and student awards for Parkinson's research. One-year Pilot Project Grants will provide up to $45,000. Agency deadline: November 11 See details online
• Prostate Cancer Canada Graduate Studentship Award: Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC) is offering a limited number of awards that provide a stipend for outstanding graduate students studying prostate cancer. The goal of the Graduate Studentship Award program is to provide funding to doctoral students to advance their research studies. To be eligible, applicants must be accepted into a full-time doctoral program in Canada which commences
by the effective date of the award (January 2014) at an eligible institution; have completed more than one year of their doctoral studies; be at least one year from submission of doctoral thesis. • The Karl C. Ivarson Agricultural Scholarship: The Agricultural Institute of Canada Foundation proudly announces this prestigious new award. This scholarship is open to agricultural science students from the province of Alberta. Students may be enrolled in any post-secondary institution within or outside the province of Alberta. In 2013, two awards will be granted: $10,000 Masters level (1) and $15,000 PhD level (1). Candidates must hold Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residence status in Canada and be enrolled in their graduate program for at least one semester

• Traditional Fulbright Student Awards: Fulbright Canada offers opportunities for Canadians to study, research, collaborate, and teach in the United States including the Traditional Fulbright Student Awards. The Award is for graduate students, prospective graduate students, and junior professionals who wish to enroll in a graduate studies program, continue their current course of graduate study and research, or pursue an independent research project for a period of nine months in the United States. Competitions close November 15, 2013. • Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships at Harvard University: The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) is pleased to announce this fellowship program for which candidates must be nominated. Up to three fellowships will be awarded to students from Canada for graduate study at Harvard University. Frank Knox Memorial Fellows
are selected on the basis of outstanding academic excellence, strength of character, and potential for leadership in their fields. The fellowship pays full Harvard tuition and mandatory health insurance fees and provides a stipend sufficient to cover the living expenses of a single Fellow for a 10-month academic year. • The Centre for International Governance Innovation Post-Doctoral Fellowship: CIGI welcomes post-doctoral fellows to join its highly collaborative community of academic and policy experts. CIGI, based in Waterloo, Ontario, is a premier Canadian think tank on international governance, with a focus on policy-relevant research. Its thematic focus is framed by four research programs: Global Economy, Global Security, Energy and
Environment, and Global Development. Recent PhD graduates — who have either secured or are in the process of securing external post-doctoral funding — are encouraged to apply for residency at the CIGI Campus. • Hosei International Fund (HIF) Foreign Scholars Fellowship: Students enrolled in a doctoral degree program are invited to apply to the program to carry out non-degree research programs at Hosei University under the direction of and/or in cooperation with Hosei faculty and researchers. Research areas include studies in the humanities, social or natural sciences, or engineering as deemed acceptable by Hosei. • Brock Library Open Access Publishing Fund: Open to Brock faculty, graduate students and postdocs. The purpose of this grant is to assist researchers in disseminating their research broadly via an Open Access (OA) journal. A minimum of four awards will be granted, to a maximum of $2,500 each [Total funds = $10,000]. This Grant is intended to support researchers with limited or no funding. If an alternate funding source is available that permits payment of submission fees (e.g. a research grant), that source must be used before applying to the OA Publishing Fund. • Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO): HEQCO has introduced an Opportunities to Innovate Fund, and has invited organizations and individuals to submit interesting project ideas for potential funding. To be considered for funding, proposed projects must be consistent with at least one of the three mandated areas of HEQCO activity: Accessibility, Quality or Accountability of postsecondary education. • NEW — Wildlife Preservation Canada: Canada's New Noah — The full scholarship includes travel, living and training expenses to enable the New Noah to participate in the Durrell Post-Graduate Diploma in Endangered Species Recovery designed to provide you with the field experience and species and human resource management skills you need to be able to run wildlife conservation projects. Based exclusively on the island of Mauritius (Indian Ocean) this course consists of four weeks of intensive theory and more than 12 weeks of practical experience, based within 'live' species and habitat recovery teams working to save species around Mauritius and its offshore islands. • Council of Canadian Academies Internship Program: The Council provides graduate students at all levels, as well as post-doctoral fellows, an opportunity to gain relevant experience in the area of science and technology policy through its Ottawa-based internship program. During the six-month program, interns engage directly in the Council’s assessment process – from panel meeting organization to research and writing,
document production, and Board approval processes. The program offers an internship stipend of $17,625 that is intended to offset living expenses for the period of the internship. The Council of Canadian Academies is an independent, not-for-profit corporation that supports evidence-based, expert assessments to inform public policy development in Canada. • Connect Canada A new internship program that links graduate students and Canadian companies for research placements. Categories of research include: natural science, engineering, economy, social science, health, environment and ethics. Each internship is four-to-six months and is completed by a graduate student at the master’s, PhD or post-doctoral fellow level. Connect Canada internships are funded by $5,000 from the company, which is matched by Connect Canada for a total intern stipend of $10,000 for the entire internship. Click here for more information.
