• NEW — Scholarship Information Sessions — update. The Faculty of Graduate Studies invites fourth-year undergraduate and current graduate students to attend information sessions about external scholarships. The sessions will focus on the application process and deadlines.
Please note that the date for the CIHR session has been changed to coincide with a webinar session offered by CIHR.

• The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS): The program was created to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and to establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. It is worth $50,000 per year for three years and is available to both Canadian and international PhD students studying at Canadian universities.

• Prostate Cancer Canada Graduate Studentship Award: Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC) is offering a limited number of awards that provide a stipend for outstanding graduate students studying prostate cancer. The goal of the Graduate Studentship Award program is to provide funding to doctoral students to advance their research studies. To be eligible, applicants must be accepted into a full-time doctoral program in Canada which commences by the effective date of the award (January 2014) at an eligible institution; have completed more than one year of their doctoral
studies; be at least one year from submission of doctoral thesis.

• The Karl C. Ivarson Agricultural Scholarship: The Agricultural Institute of Canada
Foundation proudly announces this prestigious new award. This scholarship is open to agricultural science students from the province of Alberta. Students may be enrolled in any post-secondary institution within or outside the province of Alberta. In 2013, two awards will be granted: $10,000 Masters level (1) and $15,000 PhD level (1).
Candidates must hold Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residence status in Canada and be enrolled in their graduate program for at least one semester beyond the application deadline.

• Traditional Fulbright Student Awards: Fulbright Canada offers opportunities for Canadians to study, research, collaborate, and teach in the United States including the Traditional Fulbright Student Awards. The Award is for graduate students, prospective graduate students, and junior professionals who wish to enroll in a graduate studies program, continue their current course of graduate study and research, or pursue an independent research project for a period of nine months in the United States.
Competitions open May 1, 2013, and close November 15, 2013.

• Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships at Harvard University: The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) is pleased to announce this fellowship program for which candidates must be nominated. Up to three fellowships will be awarded to students from Canada for graduate study at Harvard University. Frank Knox Memorial Fellows are selected on the basis of outstanding academic excellence, strength of character, and potential for leadership in their fields. The fellowship pays full Harvard tuition and mandatory health insurance fees and provides a stipend sufficient to cover the living expenses of a single Fellow for a 10-month academic year.

• The Centre for International Governance Innovation Post-Doctoral Fellowship: CIGI welcomes post-doctoral fellows to join its highly collaborative community of academic and policy experts. CIGI, based in Waterloo, Ontario, is a premier Canadian think tank on international governance, with a focus on policy-relevant research. Its thematic focus is framed by four research programs: Global Economy, Global Security, Energy and Environment, and Global Development.
Recent PhD graduates — who have either secured or are in the process of securing external post-doctoral funding — are encouraged to apply for residency at the CIGI Campus. Upon becoming a CIGI Post-Doctoral Fellow, individuals will be eligible to benefit from supplemental research support and will experience extensive professional development opportunities.

• Hosei International Fund (HIF) Foreign Scholars Fellowship: Students enrolled in a doctoral degree program are invited to apply to the program to carry out non-degree research programs at Hosei University under the direction of and/or in cooperation with Hosei faculty and researchers.
Research areas include studies in the humanities, social or natural sciences, or engineering as deemed acceptable by Hosei.

• Brock Library Open Access Publishing Fund: Open to Brock faculty, graduate students and postdocs. The purpose of this grant is to assist researchers in disseminating their research broadly via an Open Access (OA) journal. A minimum of four awards will be granted, to a maximum of $2,500 each [Total funds = $10,000]. This Grant is intended to support researchers with limited or no funding. If an alternate funding source is available that permits payment of submission fees (e.g. a research grant), that source must be used before applying to the OA Publishing Fund.

• Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO): HEQCO has introduced an Opportunities to Innovate Fund, and has invited organizations and individuals to submit interesting project ideas for potential funding. To be considered for funding, proposed projects must be consistent with at least one of the three mandated areas of HEQCO activity: Accessibility, Quality or Accountability of postsecondary education.

• Global Multidisciplinary e-Conference 2013 dedicated to the UNESCO`s World Science
Day: The European Scientific Institute, ESI and its partners have joined the UN celebration of World Science Day by launching the Global Multidisciplinary e-Conference 2013, November 10 to 12, 2013. This academic scientific event will gather researchers from universities, companies and government executives from all around the globe. The participants will present their scientific attainments in various academic disciplines in online sessions. The event will connect different cultures and attitudes thus contributing to: knowledge transfer, sharing best practices and research skills improvement.
