Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) 2012/13 Results

Good afternoon,

I am pleased to announce the results of the 2012/13 competition for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS).  Please refer to the attached list of successful award recipients and a list of candidates on the reversion (waiting) list.  For your information, I have also attached a spreadsheet reporting the results of past year scholarship competitions.

You will notice that this year’s successful candidates are significantly lower than in past years.  OGS has informed us that the OGS program has always over-allocated the number of awards given out, as there is typically a percentage of students who will decline the award.  Based on a review of the past several years OGS competitions, the Ministry has altered the over-allocation formula for this year’s OGS competition.  As a result, the number of successful OGS awards offered in the first round of awards for 2012/13 is less than in past years.  For the 2012/13 year, it is very likely that the reversion(waiting) list will be used much more than in past years (as this is the purpose of the reversion list), so students placed on the waitlist for this year have a better chance of being offered an OGS award compared to previous years.

Thank you for your co-operation with the OGS Scholarship 2012/13 competition process, whether it may be assisting students, vetting or adjudicating applications.

All the best,

Joanne Kremble
