Update from the Dean’s Office

Brock Alumni Mary Ann Edwards with FAHS Dean Peter Tiidus

Greetings to all faculty, staff and students in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences. The last month has seen a number of good news stories related to the faculty. A number of these are appended below.

I have been continuing my individual meetings with FAHS faculty and staff and have enjoyed meeting with each of you and learning more about you, as well as your teaching and research. My first 6 months as Dean have been exciting and rewarding and I look forward to continuing our work in the new year.

The department chairs and curriculum committees along with the Associate Deans have completed program and calendar changes for 2016/17 and we are now working toward finalizing departmental and FAHS budget submissions for the coming academic year.

Our new Masters in Public Health (MPH) and Masters in Professional Kinesiology (MPK) programs continue their reviews through MTCU with the MPK recently receiving approval from the Quality Council. Both MPH and MPK programs are still awaiting final funding approval from MTCU.

We welcome Dr. Sheila O’Keefe-McCarthy to the Faculty. Dr. O’Keefe-McCarthy recently completed her PhD in Nursing at the University of Toronto and will be starting a tenure track appointment in the Department of Nursing as of January 1, 2016. She also brings a wealth of clinical experience to this appointment.

I wish all students, staff and faculty a safe and happy holiday season and may you return in January refreshed and ready for another term.
