A Note from the Doctor
The IMD Doctor

Welcome to the March edition of the Brock Boarding Pass!

After a long winter of snow and below average temperatures, Spring cannot come soon enough! We are very much looking forward to seeing the cherry blossoms, daffodils, and tulips in bloom!

This month, among other things, we bring you the story of a student from Western New York who is studying Kinesiology and is all too familiar with the winter we have been having!

A reminder to all our prospective international students, applications for undergraduate studies are due April 1, 2014 (though we will certainly evaluate late applications while program space is still available). If you are confused as to which application to use, read on to learn more about the options available.

For those of you that were not able to make it to our Spring Open House this month, we hosted a Virtual Open House on our Social Media pages and you can check out the content anytime by visiting Facebook and Twitter and entering #VOHBrockU.

Happy Reading!

International Student Spotlight

Carlene from New York

Hi, my name is Carlene Sluberski and I am a second year Kinesiology student at Brock. I am from Fredonia, NY, which is just a short trip across the border.

Before studying at Brock, I attended Northern Michigan University where I wrestled at the Olympic Education Center. After the program lost funding and closed, I didn't want to wrestle anymore, but my high school coach talked me into giving Brock a chance. Despite my best efforts to hate it, I absolutely love it here.

While I originally chose Brock solely based on its wrestling team, I also found a program that truly interests me. Whether it's at practice or in the classroom, I have found nothing but support and encouragement from every angle. Although transferring to a new university not knowing anyone was difficult, everyone was so friendly and welcoming that it didn't take long for me to feel at home.

My advice for any international students coming to Brock would be to get involved and participate in some sort of sport or club offered here. Whether it's doing something you love or trying something completely new, it's a great way to meet new people and make friends.
