SJRI E-Communications

SJRI mobilizes and disseminates information in support of social justice research locally, nationally and internationally using a variety of digital technologies. These communication tools are platforms for knowledge exchange, including our:

  • Monthly electronic newsletter (the SJRI E-Bulletin) used to facilitate research projects by engaging/highlighting current and prospective members and providing quick links to funding, collaboration, and publication opportunities.
  • Weekly email digest with timely information about opportunities and events of special relevance to SJRI such as events/talks co-sponsored by SJRI, featuring members, or highlighting activities in the Niagara region. Email us to submit content or sign-up to receive the SJRI email digest.
  • Twitter channel to promote and raise awareness of SJRI members and other social justice programming and events. Follow us at BrockSJRI.
  • *New* social justice listserv shared with Brock’s Social Justice and Equity Studies Program to facilitate internal discussion about and planning for movement, protest, or activism-related information and events. Sign-up here to join the listserv or email us. To send an email to the listserv, please email socialjustice-l@brocku.ca. The listserv is not moderated and does not represent an endorsement by any department at Brock University. Emails that are sent out are sent on behalf of the individual or group sending them. You may unsubscribe from the listserv at any time.

Please note that once the SJRI Projects Facilitator begins her leave in June 2015, the SJRI email digest will be circulated bi-weekly and e-bulletins will be discontinued until further notice. Please visit the SJRI blog and website for information on social justice funding, events, and other opportunities.

What is SJRI?

The Social Justice Research Institute (SJRI) was established Fall 2013 as a leader in advanced transdisciplinary social justice scholarship, innovative knowledge mobilization strategies, and community-university partnerships. SJRI is a vibrant collective of 40+ Brock faculty members brought together by a shared concern for pressing social justice issues and supported by a Projects Facilitator (Dr. Rachel Hirsch) and Administrative Coordinator (Maria Callaghan). A Faculty Steering Committee (FSC) governs SJRI representing a range of cross-disciplinary perspectives from the social sciences, humanities, and education.
